Moonshiners Reunion - Plum Hollow, SC

Dedicated to keeping the moonshining spirit alive, the Moonshiner’s Reunion and Mountain Music Festival is one of the Appalachian region’s most authentic annual folk music celebrations. This event is the inspiration of musician Barney Barnwell, whose career path is as winding and steeped in local color as the Moonshiner’s trail leading to the copper pot corn whisky still. Plum Hollow Farm (also known as Woodstick), which lies near South Carolina’s “Dark Corners”, one of America’s moonshining hot spots, provides a unique and beautiful setting for the festival. A covered bandstand and gentle hillside sets the stage for laying on a quilt and getting comfortable when the music begins. Bring your lawn chair, your tent, your RV. Just remember no glass of any kind is allowed!

What is Mondo Roots you ask? To better understand what this festival is all about let's break the name down. "Mondo", the Italian word for "world", literally means “Striking or Remarkable” and “Large or all-encompassing”.  When we founded Mondo Roots we wanted to have a festival that was striking, diverse, interesting, engaging; furthermore, the “Root” of this festival is to give the surrounding communities an all-encompassing festival celebrating different cultures and different walks of life. Simply put Mondo Roots is a festival that is here to “Celebrate Diversity and Empower the Community”.
