Catawba Meadows Park will be sporting a spooky disguise throughout Halloween week this year. City of Morganton Parks and Recreation and the Valley Hills Antique Power Club have joined together to bring Spooky Meadows back to Morganton for the second time and provide visitors will “the thrills and chills of a good old-fashioned Halloween Hayride.”
Morganton Parks and Recreation Administrative Manager Jennifer Nicholson said the inaugural event last year drew more than 500 people. Due to the surprising large numbers in attendance, they decided to expand to three nights this year.
Nicholson said there will be five trailers that continuously will be taking people throughout the trail, which runs through the park and along the Morganton Greenway. The ride will last about 20 minutes, and they are aiming to have groups leave every five minutes to get them through quickly. The trail is going to offer many different Halloween-oriented, spooky props, and volunteers and staff members from the power club and recreation center will be working the trail.
The ride is not only longer this year but also will have two additional trailers and more haunted features throughout the trail, Nicholson said.
“Its family oriented,” she said of the ride. “Parents can participate as well as the children.”
