The Town of Edenton will host a dedication ceremony honoring Hugh Williamson and the monument honoring his signing of the Constitution of the United States of America. Hugh Williamson was a citizen of Edenton from 1777 to 1793. He served as the Surgeon General of North Carolina Troops during the American Revolution. He was a Framer and Signer of the United States Constitution for the state of North Carolina and was original Trustee of the University of North Carolina (1789-1801).
