Beech Mountain Mile High Kite Festival - NC

Children of all ages are invited to fly a kite this Labor Day weekend in Beech Mountain. The 15th annual Mile High Kite Festival takes place in the kite field of Eastern America’s Highest Town. At more than 5,000 feet in elevation, it is easy to sail kites a mile above sea level.

The festival features kite-flying music, prizes, kites for purchase, and free kites to the first 150 kids (12 and under) each day. Other activities include races with kids pulling parachute kites, face painting, and a variety of craft and food vendors. There’s an all-ages street dance Saturday evening in front of town hall, and folks can take a scenic chairlift ride to the mountaintop all weekend.

Admission: The event is free. There is a $5 charge for parking.
